Courses and Training Programmes
Below are a selection of courses &
training we can arrange for you at your place of work or at a nearby venue . We are also able to offer tailor made workshops which can be costed accordingly.
Drawing on Potential - This one day workshop is a popular introduction to our training program that discovers creative strategies through basic drawing. Absolutely anyone can participate in this and re-engage with the pleasure of drawing. It is a day of self development and team dialogue through a most surprising and remarkable process. This tried and tested formula is a unique way of opening up our thinking through achieving extraordinary drawings that give revealing insights to how we perceive our worlds. This is an easy to arrange workshop that can be bought to your place of work and is a good starter for an organisation looking to develop creative thinking in their teams.
General Drawing - A one day course looking at the basic tools of line, tone, measurement and constructing a drawing from observation. This course is about the critical rigour of objective looking and the discipline of getting it right. It provides skills of concentration and a perceptual understanding of the 'eye to brain' relationship ie. what we see is very different to what we know thereby opening up lateral thinking and its problem solving potential.
Life Drawing - An opportunity to draw directly from a life model and understand proportion. The course builds confidence in
depicting the human form through a range of drawing techniques. It will provide a step by step guide on how to construct the basic shape of a figure using long and short poses. It is a challenging course but offers the ultimate reward of engaging with the most difficult of subject matters. There is an extra cost to cover the life model fee. This class can be arranged for a one day session or as a weekend course.
Introduction to Art - A step by step guide that takes you through the ‘isms’ of modern art. The course will look at how contemporary artists inform our visual literacy and awareness of ‘image’ in relation to our everyday outlook. The session will consist of a talk and discussion with hands on practical experience. This course can be designed as a one or two day session.
Mixed media - A one day session exploring the history of collage & montage and how it impacts on advertising and the choices we make as consumers. We will also look at its possibilities for creating subliminal meanings through a practical workshop that explores the methods of artists who use this in their art practice.
Paint and Process – This course is recommended as a way to free up thinking around problems we encounter throughout our working lives. Using paint we will explore how ‘mistakes’ become discoveries, forming the techniques and methods that construct an image. Visual language is constantly evolving its vocabulary and this process provides an insight to how problems are in fact our potential for moving forward. This is a two day course and requires a specialist venue with an additional materials fee.
Collecting Art – A one day session that makes buying contemporary art accessible to everyone. We will look at how to negotiate the art world and find the artwork to suit your budget. It will be a chance to build a virtual collection that can be the basis for understanding how art challenges and expresses a sense of your creative self.
Gallery Visits – This is an opportunity to see art in the flesh and it will open up a fresh view of what is on your doodrstep. The day will provide a guide to not only galleries but to artist’s studios and can be designed to complement ‘Collecting Art’.
Course fees: £ 990.00 per day for up to 15 participants and includes all materials
Courses can be delivered at the work place or an alternative venue (the cost of venue hire is not included in course fee)
All inclusive Residential Courses and Workshops can be arranged on the stunning Isle of Mull with 'Art Afloat' excursions to the Tresnish & Western Isles. Plus guided trips to major Art Events such as The Venice Biennale, The Istanbul Biennale, Documenta and Frieze can be organised for small groups.
